For us to truly address Africa’s wildlife crime pandemic that is currently being waged against the rhino, the elephant and countless other species, we will need to address the ever increasing human populations and associated poverty.

For as long as this poverty exists, there will forever be someone willing to step forward into the clutches of organized crime to become a shooter for ivory or horn! Law enforcement cannot protect the wildlife alone - this is a human issue and the various legs of government and civil society will need to come forward to develop and offer alternative more viable livelihoods.
